Dodgers call up Weaver, send down DeWitt

The Dodgers today purchased the contract of pitcher Jeff Weaver from Class AAA Albuquerque.  Blake DeWitt was optioned to Albuquerque while Cory Wade was activated from the 15-day disabled list.

To make room for Weaver on the 40-man roster, Doug Mientkiewicz was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. Mientkiewicz continues to be an active teammate, apparently. After Tuesday’s Giants game, numerous players laughed about how Mientkiewicz had left them numerous text messages during the game while watching on TV from back home.

One teammmate joked how Mientkiewicz must get pine tar all over that remote control.
