The Dodgers have acquired pitcher Harvey Garcia from the Pirates for a player to be named later or cash (I’m told it’s unrelated to the Delwyn Young deal).
Garcia, a 25-year-old right-hander from Venezuela, has eight games of big league experience with the Marlins in 2007 and missed all of 2008 after undergoing rotator cuff surgery. He was traded in the 2005 deal that sent Hanley Ramirez to Florida and Josh Beckett to Boston.
Garcia has been assigned to Triple-A Albuquerque after pitching in 10 games of A ball for the Pirates organization. The Marlins had released him earlier this spring.
