Dodgers outfielder Andrew Lambo, the organization’s No. 1 prospect according to Baseball America, could make his unofficial debut today, as he was invited from minor league camp to suit up for today’s spring training game against the Royals at Camelback Ranch.
Lambo, 20, previously played in a “B” game last month for the Dodgers.
It was one year ago that top prospect Clayton Kershaw on what was a magical night came over from the minor league side for his debut in Vero Beach and struck out the side after giving up a home run and loading the bases.
I say it was magical also because after breaking the news of his scheduled debut one day earlier, my laptop broke and I wasn’t able to write about his outing. Instead, I could only watch as his curveball made my jaw drop and executives in the press box beam.
I remember it vividly. But in a way, it’s as if it never really happened.
